This board incorporates physical movement when sounding out each individual letter by moving a counter from one ball slot to the other. When your kiddo moves the ball into the next slot, help them by saying the sound of each letter.  By doing so, this movement helps to solidify phonemic awareness- being able to identify and manipulate units of sound to help differentiate units of meaning.
